It’s a one-piece design with a non-color* scheme -i.e., “black-on-black.” The black symbolizes man’s death due to sin and the subsequent death of Jesus Christ on the cross which remedies man’s sin and death problem. Thus, the colors (or “BOBs”) testify to the Romans 6:9-11 teaching of “THE DEATH OF DEATH IN THE DEATH OF CHRIST.” These words surround the main emblem.
The main emblem contains the words “hell” and “wheels” which identifies it with the old biker adage, “hell on wheels”; however, in the place of the word “on” are two questions marks which change the meaning to “hell after wheels.“
The question marks themselves represent two inquiries that deal directly with a man’s eternal destiny: one, “If you die tonight, do you know for certain that you’d go to heaven?” and, two, “If you were to die tonight and found yourself standing in front of God, and He was to ask you, “Why should I let you into My heaven?’ what would you say to Him?” Thus, the real issue is, “What about hell after your scootin’ days are over?”
OTHER PATCHES
A rocker containing the term “Sojourner” is a key patch on the front of the vest. It identifies the wearer as a “CrossWind sojourner.”- i.e., each evangelist is a pilgrim, a stranger, an alien who is looking for that “better country” which is heaven (Hebrews 11:14-16). Too, this sojourner is one who lives his life among unbelievers in such a way that “they may see [his] good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us (1 Peter 2:11-12).”
The “C.C.B.A.E.E.” patch expresses the foundations upon which the ministry rests – “calling and commitment, brotherhood and accountability, equipping and evangelism.”
The “upside down FTW” patch represents Acts 17:6 and the nature of the Gospel message – that Christ has “turned the world upside down.”
The “C F F C” patch (on the nametag) expresses the idea of “CHRIST forever, Forever, CHRIST.”
The “Luke 15:2″ patch represents CrossWind’s key verse: “This Man (Jesus Christ) receives sinners and even eats with them.”
The “S S” patch stands for “Saved Sinner” and reminds each sojourner who he really is! This idea came from William Huntingdon who, a couple of centuries ago, referred to his own status as such – he couldn’t afford nor was he smart enough to pursue any advanced degrees (e.g., MD, ThD, et al.) – he was jus’ a plain, ol’ “saved sinner.”
The “W D J D” patch is a take-off of the “W W J D” idea. This time, however, it’s “What Did Jesus Do?” which affirms the authority of God’s Word, the Bible, in each sojourner’s life – i.e., there is no room for guesswork ’cause the Bible is objective and true (jus’ read it and obey it!).
The “SoJo” patch is merely an abbreviated “Sojourner” patch.
The “31″ patch signifies thecore belief of CrossWind (and the cardinal doctrine of the Christian faith) which is biblical teaching of the Triune God (or Trinity): that is, three unique and distinctive Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -Who are each True God of True God, and yet They exist as the One True and Living God. Thus, the Tri- (three) unity (one) of the Godhead.
A small silver skull pin testifies to the Romans 6:9-11 truth of “the death of death in the death of Christ.” It was at “the place of the skull” – Golgotha – that the Savior died so that wewould not have to die ourselves.
A small gold fish hook testifies that sojourners are “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).
Finally, a small pin of two tiny feet – the imprints of a ten week-old unborn child – signals our complete support for the sanctity of life. CrossWind is four-square in support of every aspect of the pro-life movement that glorifies God and blesses men according to the Scriptures.
(*So as to show respect for and not to offend any other club or ministry, CrossWind has chosen to use a single-piece patch with a”non-color” scheme – i.e., “black-on-black.” Neither is the name of the ministry displayed anywhere on the vest nor do we claim any territory.)
