Make My Life a Prayer to You

lifephto.jpg

Been to a tattoo parlor lately? Or, have you examined the apparel section of a biker shop in recent days? Ever browsed through a catalog for bike candyóthat is, all the chrome parts available to bolt on a ride? If you have, you might have wondered, ìWhat’s this deal with death that bikers have?î Why, it’s like this humongous obsession or somethingódeath’s heads and flames and ghouls and corpses and grim reapers and bones are everywhere! Or, how about the lingo that bikers useósuch as, ìLive fast, love hard, and DIE young!î or ìHELL on wheels!î? Then, there are the namesthemselves: a whole lotta hell and the devil and demons and witches and death, Death, DEATH, man!

I must admit that you’re right! But truth be told, not all bikers are about a culture of death. In fact, many are just the oppositeói.e., their big thing is LIFEóabundant and everlasting life! And this culture of life would, by necessity, include all of lifeóeven life in the womb!

The bikers you see today stand foursquare for life and against abortion. Our mission is the preservation of and care for life. Human life is sacred to usófrom the unborn to those at the end of their earthly habitation, all are precious! We’re about the business of loving people just as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ loved us. Thus, with Paul’s words from Philippians 2:3-5 echoing in our hearts:

“…in humility, consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus…”

. . .we bikers are here to stand with you for LIFE! That is as clear as I can state it. Allómen and women, young and old, healthy and infirm without regard for ethnicity or creed (including those outlaw bikers we minister to!)óneed the love of Jesus Christ which is demonstrated through the care and concern of one human being toward another. Biking is our pastime, but life is our passionówe exist and are called by God to share His love with everyone He brings across our paths.

Hey, look at our patches and pins–they speak of Christ and LIFE! The ìCFFCî means ìChrist forever, forever Christ.î The ìhell??wheelsî refers to ìhell after wheelsî and asks two questions: ìIf you were to die tonight, do you know for certain that you’d go to heaven?î and ìIf you were to die tonight and stand in front of God in heaven, and He was to ask you, ëWhy should I let you into My heaven?’ what would you say to Him?î We have a fish hook symbolizing that we are fishers of men.One of ourtheme verses is from Paul’s testimony: ìChrist Jesus came into the world to save sinners.î Another speaks of Jesus both receiving and eating with sinners! Even our more controversial ones – the skull and the upside down “F T W” – tell about Jesus Christ. The former signifies “the death of death in the death of Christ (that’s eternal life, man!!!), and the latter is from Acts 17:6which teaches that Jesus has turned the world of sin upside down! Lastly, our rocker that says “Sojourner” on it tells everyone that this worldis not our home -we are just pilgrims on our way to heaven and everlasting LIFE!

Finally, did you notice my pin of a ten week old fetus’ feet? We come to you as another resource in this battle for life. So, take heart that your work is neither unnoticed nor unappreciated. We salute you, we thank you and we ask our God to bless you for your timely, enduring and profoundly selfless labor of love unto the Savior on behalf of the unborn.

Grace and peace be yours.

(This flyer was handed out at the ’06 United for Life Rally and March held in B’ham, AL, to remember the victims of abortion since Roe v. Wade in 1973. It was intended to support and encourage those participating. Also, the world famousphoto at the top of the page is from a surgery performed at Vanderbilt University on a child in the womb who suffered from spina bifida. The child’s holding on to the surgeon’s finger evidences both the reality and viability of pre-born life.)
